In 1979, former NASA scientist, Leighton Reeves Scott, began experimenting with a unique art medium. His mixed-media techniques produce paintings of incredible depth and complex color effects that draw the viewer into the works. Themes include imaginary planetary surfaces and galaxies. This photograph won the 2nd place award for photography at the 51st Annual Art Exhibit of the Franklin County (PA) Art Alliance in June of 2023. Prints on various surfaces are available.

The surface bears a striking resemblance to recent NASA close-in photos of the surfaces of moons and asteroids! More photos of this type are planned, some in color and available in larger sizes.
